The bracelet is an essential jewelry accesory and the oldest forms of the bracelet can be traced back to early man who made or collected charms and wore them on a bracelet to bring good luck.

It is said that the popularity of the bracelet was due to Queen Victoria who was very fond of the bracelet and made it popular amongst the English nobility. In time the bracelet became an essential jewelry item worldwide.

There are five popular forms of the bracelet:

The bangle which is a narrow, stiff, endless bracelet which can be sold singly or as interlocking pairs or trios and are put on by slipping them over the hand. Bangles are also made that are slightly wider than the endless type and are manufactured with a hinge and fold over clasp to make them easier to put on.
The cuff bracelet which is a stiff, relatively wide bracelet and may have a hinged opening, or it may be made so it only surrounds three quarters of the wrist, leaving an opening to allow it to be put on by sliding it over the narrowest part of the wrist.
The link or chain bracelet which is a flexible bracelet made from individual links and may be narrow or wide, flat or round. There is a wide range of link designs available.
The charm bracelet which is a link or chain bracelet on which decorative ornaments known as charms are suspended.
The tennis bracelet which is a simple, flexible bracelet with diamonds set along its length. The tennis bracelet got it's name when tennis champion Chris Evert dropped her diamond bracelet during a tennis match in the 1987 US Open Tennis Tournament and stopped the match until she had found her bracelet.

Like all jewlery, bracelets are manufactured using platinum, gold, silver, diamonds and gemstones.

When choosing a braclet, please bear in mind that a very slender wrist and arm will look best with a narrower bracelet, or an open-work design. An average wrist and arm can support most any style. A wider wrist or heavier arm looks best with a bolder bracelet.
